Mini-Getaway to Merimbula

A few weeks ago we took a little trip away.

Let me explain. My husband and I had a joint birthday party in August. We both turned 30 this year. Dear friends and family gave us money towards a little getaway.

So we went away for a few nights to the cozy little beach town of Merimbula, NSW.

It took some time to book and find a place that had great rates, but we were so happy with what we found and where we went.

We booked with the NRMA holiday park, and chose one of the honeymoon spa cabins. The walls are a bit thin, so we heard the garbage trucks on the Friday morning, but other than that, we had no complaints. We don’t have a bathtub, and when my back hurts very badly, there are times we wish we had a tub, so that was partly why we tried to get a spa cabin- to enjoy something we usually aren’t able to enjoy.

We stayed for two nights, enjoyed the tub, took walks on a beach, splashed in the waves and wandered along the boardwalk in Merimbula. We explored the coast line to Eden and took in some of the sights such as the Pinnacles at Ben Boyd National Park.

Over the course of our getaway we saw a marooned jellyfish and sea snails and tiny fish and a crab along the boardwalk. We observed several lizards, we almost drove over a snake, we caught a glimpse of an echidna, lots of pelicans, at least a dozen dolphins and plenty of song birds.

Here are some pictures from our adventures, including scenes from the highway.

I had a cold, so we didn’t do nearly as much as we would have liked and we didn’t end up finding any amazing restaurants. We were surprised that most weren’t open on mid-week evenings. We did find a pizza place for one meal, and found a fish and chip shop for another. Steven cooked up a mean batch of pancakes one morning for us as well.

On our way home we stopped for lunch in Candelo at a fun little General store. I got a Reuben (yum!) on Gluten-Free bread, and Steven got a burger.

We found our time away relaxing and fun to spend some time together. Steven enjoyed the break from work, and I enjoyed the break from house duties- He cooked or we ate out. 🙂

Just in case you wondered, this is not a sponsored post, I just added the links for where we went for your perusal. All opinions are mine and my husbands. Thanks for understanding… 🙂
