Taste and See that the Lord is good

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Tomorrow our fourth and final term commences for the school. For my Canadian/American friends, the Australian school system goes from February to December, four terms of 9-10 weeks each, with a holiday of 2-3 weeks between. Then a summer holiday of six weeks in December and January.

Tomorrow is also Canadian Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for- the Lord is good.

I’ve been able to get some things rearranged and organized for school, and am looking forward to spending time with my kids again, but I’m not looking forward to tomorrow in that I’ll have to talk/use my mouth. 🙂

Many of you know that I have braces, and have had off and on trouble with them since I got them. Well, I needed to have a procedure done during the holiday, but the only time available was this Saturday- two days before school starts up again.

The procedure was a lot more extensive in digging and drilling around an impacted tooth to find out exactly where it is. I was very miserable yesterday, but I’ve been able to function alright today. I didn’t go to church this morning even though I wanted to, but did attend the evening service. I’m eating ice cream, apple sauce, puddings and soups. I’m mostly just sore now,  with minimal swelling. It hurts to talk/sing/laugh and even drink. Thank you for those who have been praying for me. Please continue to do so, this week will be hard to communicate as I would like to be able to.

One of the teachers in the school offered to take me to the appointment, and I’m very thankful she did. I was glad to have the moral support in finding a chemist shop (pharmacy) and getting some scripts (presciptions) filled. It was a night I would have liked to have my Mom nearby. Even in the pain, I was reminded of the Lord’s goodness, and I have so much to be thankful for in salvation, comforts, friends, family and that God supplies all my needs.

The young people/teens and young adult/career age folks in our church have been having a wonderful time of fellowship and rekindling our hearts for the Lord. It has been exciting to see/hear wonderful testimonies of the Lord working in and though each and everyone of us. We are desiring to serve and love the Lord more and more each day. Just since the surgery, I’m thankful that I had a wonderful support group of friends praying for me.

When I couldn’t get to sleep last night, I wrote letters and prayed and read long into the night and here is something I thought was very thought provoking. “If there is a single event in all of the universe that can occur outside of God’s sovereign control then we cannot trust Him.” –from Jerry Bridge’s book Trusting God.

Aren’t you glad that God controls everything!? Praise God we can trust him in all things. How has God been working in you life lately? I’m so thankful for his faithfulness. Please let me know how I can pray for you.

Love in Christ,

Beth:)
